About Gladdy Drawing Club
Gladdy Drawing Club meets one floor above the bar at The Lord Gladstone Hotel, Regent Street, Chippendale. Artists Noni Cragg and Total Bore host, a new professional model sits for each class, and the model is placed at the centre of the room so every person gets their own view. It runs more like a club than a course. First-timers draw next to designers, animators, architects and illustrators, and no one's sketches are up for critique. Groups can book the club privately for a workplace or a special occasion, held at the pub or taken to another venue. Past pop-up classes include sessions for Optus, Ogilvy and General Pants Co. Hens parties are welcome, as are combined hens and bucks groups where the mood suits, but bucks parties on their own are not taken. There is no set package price for private events; you email the organisers and they work out the details with you. To try it before booking, join a public class on a Tuesday at 6pm or 8pm. Tickets are $22 and numbers are capped at twenty. A class goes for 90 minutes. The first half is quick poses of two and five minutes, then there's a break for a drink, then the model moves into longer poses standing, seated and lying down, and the room gets a vote on how long some of them last. The club provides paper, pencils, charcoal and masonite boards, and you can bring a sketchbook of your own if you like. Gladdy Drawing Club makes a point of being a safe room for women and LGBTQIA+ people, which makes it a considered pick for a hens party or a creative outing with the team.

Can we book a private life drawing class for a group?
Yes. Private classes are available for workplaces and special occasions, at The Lord Gladstone Hotel or at another venue. Email the organisers to sort out the date and how the session will run.
Does Gladdy Drawing Club host hens and bucks parties?
Hens parties are welcome, and so are mixed hens and bucks groups if the mood is right. Bucks parties on their own are not taken.
How much does a class cost?
A ticket to a public class is $22. Private and corporate bookings are priced when you enquire.
How long is a session and do we need experience?
Classes go for 90 minutes including a drinks break, and no experience is needed. Poses start at two and five minutes and build up to eight to ten minutes.
Do we need to bring drawing materials?
No. The club supplies paper, pencils, charcoal and masonite boards. You're welcome to bring your own sketchbook and tools.
