About Leichhardt Bowling Club
Locals call Leichhardt Bowling Club the Bowlo. It's a community club on Piper Street, Lilyfield, right where the suburb meets Leichhardt. Alongside the bowling greens sits a beer garden the club bills as the largest in the inner west, open to dogs and facing the sunset. There's also the Blue Ribbon Bistro serving pub classics, and on weekends the LilyFields gin bar opens. A 90-minute barefoot bowls session is $15 per person. Coloured bowls are provided, and first-timers get a run-through of the game and some free coaching before they start. For a bigger group, a $300 flat fee covers 90 minutes on the pair of rinks next to the beer garden; there's no cap on how many people take a turn, but no more than 20 can be on the green at once. Booking bowls doesn't hold you a table, so book seating separately if you'd like a spot before or after, whether that's the beer garden, the kids' corner or inside the clubhouse. On weekends, groups of 10 or more have to reserve outdoor tables. Bowlers must be 16 or older, feet must be bare or in flat-soled shoes on the green, and glass stays off it. Play depends on the weather, the greens can shut after heavy rain, and a session lost to rain is refunded in full. You can ask for catering with a table booking, subject to a minimum spend. Larger functions can use the club's auditorium, which has full AV and a stage and holds 130 seated or 180 guests all up.

Is there a minimum age?

What should we wear on the green?

What happens if it rains?
The greens can close when it's raining or after heavy rain. If rain cancels your session, you're refunded in full. Otherwise, cancellations need 24 hours' notice.
