About Leichhardt Bowling Club
Leichhardt Bowling Club, known locally as the Bowlo, is a community club on Piper Street in Lilyfield, on the Leichhardt border. It pairs its bowling greens with what it calls the biggest beer garden in the inner west, a dog-friendly space with sunset views, plus the Blue Ribbon Bistro for pub classics and a LilyFields gin bar on weekends. Barefoot bowls costs $15 per person for a 90-minute session. The club supplies coloured bowls and gives newcomers an introduction and some free coaching before play. Larger groups can hire the two rinks next to the beer garden for $300 for 90 minutes, which lets as many people as you like bowl across the session, with up to 20 on the green at once. Bowls bookings and table bookings are separate, so reserve both if you want seating in the clubhouse, beer garden or kids' corner before or after your game. Groups of 10 or more need to book outdoor tables on weekends. The minimum age to bowl is 16, only bare feet or flat-soled shoes are allowed on the green, and no glass is permitted there. Bowls is weather dependent, and the greens may close after heavy rain, with a full refund if your session is rained out. Catering can be requested with a table booking and carries a minimum spend. For bigger functions the club also has an auditorium with full AV, a stage and room for up to 130 seated or 180 guests in total.
