About Lane Cove Bowling Club
Lane Cove Bowling and Recreation Club sits on Burns Bay Road in Lane Cove West and has been running since 1952, when it began life as Lane Cove West Bowling Club. It is now the only competitive bowls club left in Lane Cove, but it opens its greens to non-members too. Barefoot bowls is the easy way in: the club supplies all the equipment, and members are happy to give newcomers a few pointers on grip, line and weight before you start. For groups, the club works as both a bowls venue and a function space. Downstairs in the clubhouse there is a fully stocked bar at club prices, and organisers can set up a bar tab when booking and settle it by cash or card at the end. Outside there is a newer BBQ and outdoor bar with a fridge, plus an undercover patio that links the indoor and outdoor areas. Upstairs or down, the club can provide a sound system with Bluetooth, large-screen TVs or a projector screen, which is handy for speeches or a work presentation. The separate function hall sits at street level on Burns Bay Road, seats up to 70 people and has plenty of parking nearby. The club markets its spaces for corporate groups, training days, birthday parties and trivia nights, so it suits a casual birthday afternoon, a team outing or a relaxed get-together where not everyone wants to play. Note that the club does not accept Diners or American Express, and dogs are allowed in some outdoor areas under the club's conditions of entry.
