About John Oxley

John Oxley is an 80-foot motor yacht, built in Australia, with room for up to 53 guests plus four crew. She has classic nautical lines, large windows and a wide beam that adds space and stability, and a recent refit brought new timber floors, fresh paint, new cushions and an updated colour scheme. The saloon has plush lounges and a Bose sound system run from an iPad, with four music zones on independent volume. It opens onto the aft deck, where a polished teak table seats 10 for dinner. Upstairs, the flybridge and bow have daybeds and extra seating with panoramic harbour views, and new party lights and a smoke machine are ready for the evening. There's an onboard bar and BBQ, outdoor drinks fridges and Wi-Fi. Water toys include sea bobs and an inflatable slide, there's an air compressor to pump up any floaties you bring, and four air-conditioned staterooms sleep six overnight.

Pricing

John Oxley is $800 per hour from March to October, with a minimum of 3 hours, and $1,100 per hour from November to February, with a minimum of 4 hours. Special events and public holidays carry a 20% surcharge on the total invoice. New Year's Eve is sold as a $40,000 all-inclusive package, running 8pm to 1am, for a maximum of 40 guests.

Staff are $350 each, with one required for every 15 guests. The BYO drinks fee is a flat $300 (including use of the galley and ice) and the BYO catering fee is a flat $300 (including use of the BBQ, platters and galley equipment). Wharf fees are $50 per 15-minute wharf booking, and a $250 travel fee applies each way for wharves beyond the CBD, the eastern suburbs and the lower north shore. A $2,000 deposit secures the booking, the balance is due 14 days before, and a $1,000 bond is returned after the cruise.

Food

Catering is mix and match. BBQ and platter options include a sausage sizzle at $15 per person (minimum 10), an antipasto platter at $25 per person (minimum 10), build-your-own hamburgers at $30 per person (minimum 20), a mezze board with caprese salad at $35 per person (minimum 20) and a premium Australian Mediterranean BBQ at $60 per person (minimum 10) with eye fillet, pork tenderloin, marinated chicken, sausages and three salads. Seafood platters are priced per 10 guests: Sydney rock oysters at $75, mixed sashimi at $170 and peeled tiger prawns at $230. All beef, chicken and seafood is Halal and gluten-free, and mushroom, eggplant, zucchini and vegan sausages can replace meat on the BBQ.

BYO food is also welcome for a $300 flat fee, which includes use of the BBQ, platters and galley equipment.

Beverages

Drinks on John Oxley are BYO only. A $300 flat service fee covers full use of the galley and equipment and ice for your esky, and outdoor drinks fridges and a bar are on board.

Wharfs & Availability

John Oxley is available daily, subject to her calendar. The minimum charter is 3 hours from March to October and 4 hours from November to February. Day charters must finish by 5pm and evening charters start from 6pm.

King Street Wharf in the CBD is the most popular pick-up, and other wharves can be arranged on request, subject to availability and extra fees. Wharf fees are $50 per booking. Any pick-up or drop-off beyond the CBD, the eastern suburbs and the lower north shore adds a $250 travel fee each way, on top of the wharf fee.
