About The Rooftop @ The Lucky Shag
The Lucky Shag is a waterfront bar on the jetty side of Barrack Square, trading since 1998. Upstairs, The Rooftop is its function level, looking over the Swan River towards South Perth with the Bell Tower close by. The Rooftop splits into four areas that can be booked alone, combined, or taken together as one exclusive rooftop. The Garden Bar holds the most guests of any single area, with its own bar, five undercover booths, shade and overhead heaters. The Upper Deck sits on the river edge with high tables and lounge seating. The Verandah has a louvre roof, drop-down blinds and heating, plus a widescreen TV for slideshows or speeches. The Lounge is the indoor option, a quieter room facing Barrack Square on one side and the river on the other. In the cooler months the Lounge, inside bar and Verandah can be booked together as a covered private venue. Capacities run from 25 guests in the Lounge or Verandah to 110 in the Garden Bar, 185 across the Garden Bar and Upper Deck, and 320 for the entire rooftop. Taking the whole level gives you a private entrance, private bars and space to mingle. Every function starts with a canapé package per person, from four pieces for $26, with substantial bites, sweets and oysters to add. Drinks run as house or premium packages over two to four hours, a bar tab you set, or guests paying their own way. There is no separate room hire charge; a minimum spend applies that depends on the area, date and time. A functions coordinator plans each event, and viewings can be arranged before you commit.

Canapé packages are $26 per person for four pieces, $38 for six and $48 for eight. A date can be held for seven days, and a 20% deposit with a signed agreement confirms the booking.
Food
Sweet bites are $5 each, oysters are $60 a dozen, and a chef's vegan plate is $35 per person. Platters and pizzas can be added, and basic dietary needs can be met with notice.
Beverages
An arrival spritz starts at $19 per person, spirits can be added from $15 per person for each hour, and an extra hour starts at $10 per person. A bar tab or pay-as-you-go bar are the other options.

How many guests can The Rooftop hold?
The Verandah takes 25 to 50 guests and the indoor Lounge 25 to 40. The Upper Deck suits 40 to 75 and the Garden Bar 65 to 110. Combined areas take up to 125 or 185 guests, and the entire rooftop holds 200 to 320. The cooler-months package of Lounge, inside bar and Verandah suits 60 to 140.
Is there a room hire fee?
No separate hire fee is charged. Instead a minimum spend applies, set by the area, the date and the time of your booking, and it can be used on food and drinks. Each function includes a canapé package for every guest.
What drinks packages are available?
The house package is $50 per person for two hours, $70 for three and $80 for four. The premium package is $70, $90 or $100 per person for the same lengths. You can also run a bar tab with drinks you choose, or let guests buy their own. A drinks package has to cover the whole group.
Can we bring a cake and decorations?
Celebration cakes are welcome; let the team know ahead so they can plan storage and serving. Most decorations are fine, but anything fixed to walls or fittings needs approval, and confetti or loose items that could blow into the river are not allowed.
Is the rooftop accessible, and what happens if it rains?
A lift reaches the upper level and most function areas, apart from the Lounge. In the wetter months only the undercover areas are booked, and if weather turns the team will try to move your group, though another space cannot be guaranteed.
