About The Queens Tavern
The Queens Tavern is a heritage pub at 520 Beaufort Street in Highgate, serving the area for well over a century. It runs a table-service restaurant, an upstairs bar with a balcony over the street and a sizeable outdoor area. The pub hosts private and corporate events, from birthdays and engagements to wedding receptions. Across its spaces it can take up to 185 guests, with cocktail, seated or conference-style formats. Groups of 20 or more are usually set up in The Loft, an open mezzanine above the main floor. It is shared with other patrons rather than closed off, which keeps the atmosphere lively, and there is no charge to hire it. Instead, a food spend of at least $15 per guest applies, chosen from the platter menu. Options run from oysters and meatballs to arancini, mozzarella sticks, fried ravioli and half-metre pizzas, and grazing tables can be laid out for 20 to 80 guests. Drinks run on a bar tab opened on the day, with wristbands for your guests. Bring your own cake at no charge, and send an enquiry to lock in a date.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a room hire fee at The Queens Tavern?
No. The function areas are not exclusive, so there is no hire charge. Instead, a minimum food spend of $15 per guest applies, and drinks don't count towards it.
How big a group can the pub host?
The Loft suits groups of 20 or more, and the venue's spaces together can host up to 185 guests. Smaller casual catch-ups can use the outdoor area, where tables are first in, first served.
What food is available for functions?
Catering comes from the platter menu, with each platter feeding roughly 10 people as a snack. Choices include freshly shucked oysters, meatballs, chicken skewers, mozzarella sticks, two kinds of arancini, fried ravioli and half-metre pizzas. Grazing tables are $500 for 20 to 30 people, $1,000 for 40 to 50 and $1,500 for 60 to 80.
Can we bring a DJ or band?
The Loft is a shared mezzanine, so performers and musicians can't be accommodated there. If you would like a DJ, the team can recommend one of the pub's house DJs.
Can we bring a cake and decorations?
Yes. Cakes are welcome with no cake fee, and the staff provide a knife and napkins. Small decorations are fine too, but you set them up and take them away yourself.
