About Market Grounds
Market Grounds is a large pub on Telethon Avenue, close to Yagan Square and RAC Arena, where the CBD meets Northbridge. The building takes its cue from the old markets that once stood on the site, and it runs cocktails, a kitchen and DJs across several levels. For functions there are nine areas to choose from. Downstairs, The Grounds is the beer garden, Market Bar sits in the middle of the venue for 25 to 50, and the restaurant takes seated groups of 40 to 70 on a set menu. Upstairs, Mercado East holds up to 100 and Mercado West up to 60, with booth seating around a cocktail area. Together they form the First Floor Exclusive, a private level for up to 200. The Firepit Lounge is a sunken space overlooking Market Bar for up to 25. In the warmer months The Summer Grounds opens in Kings Square, a larger outdoor space for 75 to 100 guests. Most areas are semi-private, so you share the buzz of the pub while keeping your own zone. Food comes as canapé packages from $40 per person for six choices, platters of 30 pieces, heartier substantial bites, or a shared set menu from $73 per person for two courses. Drinks run as classic, premium or deluxe packages over two to four hours, a capped bar tab or a cash bar. A cocktail masterclass can be added, where guests learn to shake two cocktails over two hours. Cakes are welcome with no cakeage, and the venue has wheelchair access.

Platters of 30 pieces range from $125 to $225, and substantial bites are $13.50 each. A 15% surcharge applies on public holidays.
Food
Platters cover mini pies, sausage rolls, croquettes, sushi and rice paper rolls. The shared set menu brings dips, calamari and beef skewers, then porterhouse and mushroom pappardelle, with dietary needs handled in each course.
Beverages
A spirit upgrade is $29 per person and a cocktail on arrival $18 per person, both for 20 or more guests. You can also set a bar tab with a limit you control, or run a cash bar.

How big a group can Market Grounds host?
The First Floor Exclusive combines Mercado East and Mercado West into a private upstairs level for up to 200 guests. Smaller areas range from the 25-guest Firepit Lounge to Mercado East for up to 100.
How much are the function food packages?
Canapé packages are $40 per person for six options, $49 for eight and $61 for ten, for at least 20 guests. Substantial bites are $13.50 each, and the shared set menu is $73 per person for two courses or $83 for three.
What drinks packages are offered?
The classic package is $53 per person for two hours, rising to $81 for four. Premium runs $65 to $93 and deluxe $76 to $104 per person. A spirit upgrade or cocktail on arrival can be added for groups of 20 or more. A capped bar tab or a cash bar are the alternatives.
Can we add a cocktail masterclass?
Yes. The masterclass is $70 per person and includes sparkling on arrival, a shared charcuterie board and a two-hour lesson making two cocktails. It is not run on Fridays or Saturdays after 5pm and needs at least eight days' notice.
Can we bring a cake and decorations?
Cakes are welcome and no cakeage is charged. Decorations are fine as long as they are not messy and don't affect other guests. A 15% surcharge applies on public holidays.
