About Catalpa Charters
Catalpa Charters is a family business working out of Rockingham, named after the Catalpa rescue that is woven into the town's maritime history. Alongside its wildlife and lobster tours, the crew offer private charters on their cruiser for groups of up to 20. A private charter is built around your group. You choose where to explore along the coast, and the boat comes with four grazing platters, two BBQs for any extra food you bring, and cooler tables stocked with ice for BYO drinks. A marlin board at the stern can be used for water activities on request, and dolphins are often seen along the way. Inside, the vessel has three tables seating six each plus a table for two, sheltered seating, shade and a toilet with handrails. The crew use a microphone and speaker to share local stories and point out wildlife. Couples can also book The Love Boat, an all-inclusive micro wedding for up to 19 guests. It covers a three-hour private charter with crew, a celebrant, photography with a highlight video and grazing platters, with drinks BYO. Couples should book six weeks or more ahead, which allows time to lodge the marriage paperwork, and extra time and add-ons can be arranged.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can come on a Catalpa Charters private charter?
Private charters take up to 20 passengers. Inside there are three tables that each seat six and a smaller table for two, all with built-in cooler tables.
What food and drinks are included?
Four grazing platters come with every private charter. Drinks are BYO, kept cold in the ice-filled cooler tables, and two BBQs on board can cook any extra food your group brings.
Can we get married on the boat?
Yes. The Love Boat micro wedding package includes a three-hour private charter, a celebrant, photography with a highlight video and grazing platters for up to 19 guests, with at least six weeks' notice.
Where does the boat leave from?
Charters depart from the end of the Val Street Jetty in Rockingham, beside the Cruising Yacht Club. Guests board via a gangway with handrails and five steps, so arrive 15 minutes early.
Is the vessel wheelchair accessible?
Not fully. Boarding is tide-dependent with steps, and some areas have raised thresholds. The crew encourage guests with access needs to talk it through before booking and can arrange a look over the boat.
