About The Private Kitchen
The Private Kitchen takes up the third floor of The Old Rum Store, a building on Kensington Street among the laneway restaurants next to Central Park in Chippendale. Groups take the entire space, and everything about it is set up for eating together: a single open room with long banquet tables, glass running from floor to ceiling and the building's original columns left on show. The cooking is the point of difference. Resident chefs take turns in the kitchen, so each booking gets a menu the chef has put together for it instead of a set function list, and vegan and gluten-free guests are well looked after. Seated, the room fits up to 64 along the long tables; standing, it takes 110, and the clear floor space doubles as a dance floor after the meal. The room comes with AV screens, a PA, Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and you're free to run your own playlist. It's soundproofed and wheelchair accessible. The venue can handle the bar, or you can bring your own drinks without paying corkage, which adds up to a real saving on a large dinner. Good fits include a small wedding, an engagement party, a big birthday dinner or an end-of-project team night.
