About The Private Kitchen
The Private Kitchen occupies level three of The Old Rum Store on Kensington Street, in Chippendale's laneway dining precinct beside Central Park. It's hired as a whole venue, and it's built around communal dining: long banquet tables down an open-plan hall framed by floor-to-ceiling glass and exposed columns. What sets it apart is the kitchen. A rotating roster of resident chefs means each event gets its own chef-curated menu rather than a standard function list, with extensive vegan and gluten-free options. It seats up to 64 at long tables or holds 110 standing, with open floor space that works as a dance floor once dinner's done. There are built-in AV screens, a PA system, Wi-Fi and air conditioning, you can play your own music, and the room is soundproofed and wheelchair accessible. Drinks can be supplied by the venue, or you can bring your own with no corkage charge — a real saving on a big dinner.
