Maloney's Hotel is on Goulburn Street towards the southern edge of the CBD, and its lounge is a proper pub room, not a bare function space. The walls are dark timber and deep red, the seating is a mix of armchairs in patterned fabric and low ottomans under drum-shaped pendants, and windows onto the street stop it feeling boxed in. It takes 70 standing or 40 seated, and the furniture can be moved around depending on whether people are mingling or sitting down. The venue bar is right there, with table service for drinks and casual food, and there are TVs on the walls for live sport, air conditioning, and a PA for speeches.
