Glebe Point Road has long been one of the Inner West's eating streets, so a cooking class there feels like a natural group outing. The Coastal Italian, a small cooking school and homewares store at Shop 4, 166 Glebe Point Road, is run by chef Davide after close to two decades in restaurant kitchens. Classes are hands-on: you make pasta dough from scratch, shape it, cook the sauces and then sit down together to eat what you made. It suits friends, work teams and couples who would rather cook together than just book a table.
What a class at The Coastal Italian looks like:
Classes start from $80 per person. The calendar covers Pasta for Beginners evenings, weekend Pasta, Gnocchi and Ravioli masterclasses, regional classes built around Tuscany, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia, and a Pasta Date Night. Classes are for guests aged 18 and over, and dietary requirements need to be raised with Davide before booking, as not every requirement can be accommodated.

You make pasta dough from scratch, work it into different shapes and cook sauces to go with them, based on recipes from the Italian Riviera and regional Italy. Every class ends with everyone eating what they cooked.
The Coastal Italian runs a Pasta Date Night on its public calendar, and couples can also book an exclusive three-hour private class for two. The private class includes a recipe book to take home.
