Simply Seated is an event hire and styling business with its Sydney head office in Botany and a further address on Marion Street in Leichhardt, alongside warehouses in Melbourne and Brisbane. The core of the business is a large hire range of lounges, armchairs, banquettes, dining and bar tables, stools, bars and food stations, plus linen, crockery, glassware, cutlery, rugs, lamps, candle holders and artificial plants. Their work runs from weddings and private celebrations through to gala dinners, awards nights, fashion shows and brand activations. Clients can hire individual pieces or hand the whole room over to the in-house design team. The stylists put together a styling brief with mood boards, floor plans and 3D renders before anything is loaded onto a truck, and a fabric team handles ceiling and wall draping in materials such as chiffon and velvet. There is also a large-format print workshop producing media walls, backdrops, bar wraps and signage on acrylic, vinyl, corflute and fabric, and a free styling consultation with a showroom visit is on offer. Most jobs are delivered, installed and packed down by their own crew, with delivery fees quoted on the number of items, access and time slot. Simply Seated does not list prices for individual hire items online, so every order is quoted. Their hire terms set a minimum spend of $2,000 ex GST on hire items for orders they deliver and collect, and $500 ex GST for customer pickup orders, with delivery, labour, installation and styling charged separately. A non-refundable 30 percent deposit confirms the booking and the balance is due 14 days before the event. Card payments carry a surcharge of 1.5 percent for Visa and Mastercard and 2 percent for Amex.

Equipment & Service Details

The hire range covers dining, lounge and cocktail furniture, bars and food stations, plinths, linen, crockery, glassware, cutlery, rugs, cushions, lamps, candle holders, artificial plants, flooring, umbrellas and heating. Their crew delivers, installs and packs down, with extra fees for after-hours or weekend time slots, stairs, and carries of more than 10 metres from the truck. A credit card is taken as a security bond, and lost or damaged items are charged at replacement or repair cost. Crockery and cutlery should be scraped and repacked in the original crates before collection, or a cleaning fee applies.

Is there a minimum order with Simply Seated?

Yes. Orders they deliver and collect need at least $2,000 ex GST of hire items, and pickup orders need at least $500 ex GST. Delivery, labour, installation and styling are charged on top of those amounts.

Can I just pick up the furniture myself?

Dry hire pickup is available from their warehouse on weekdays between 10am and 4pm. You need a closed truck or van with blankets and straps, as utes and trailers are not accepted, and a handling fee from $300 plus GST applies.

How long is the hire period?

A standard hire covers one to three days from delivery unless something else is agreed in writing. Items kept beyond that are charged at the daily hire rate until they come back.

How far ahead do I need to confirm guest numbers?

Final numbers are due 14 working days before the event. A 30 percent deposit locks in the booking and the balance is payable 14 days out, and the order can move by up to 10 percent until then.

Do they help with styling as well as hire?

Yes. Their stylists can produce mood boards, floor plans and 3D renders, and they offer a free styling consultation and showroom visit. They also make draping, custom builds and printed signage in-house.
