About Morpheus

Morpheus is a 66-foot motor catamaran built for events on Sydney Harbour, with three distinct entertaining areas and panoramic 360-degree views from both decks. She suits groups from 20 to 98: up to 98 for a cocktail party, 90 with informal seating across two areas, or 66 at a formal dinner in a single room. A professional chef is on board, cooking anything from casual canapes to a seafood-and-lobster feast. Guests can gather in the custom-designed cocktail lounge, take over the designated dance floor or settle into the ottoman seating on the expansive foredeck. Big flat-screen TVs with DVD playback, a good sound system, a cordless microphone for speeches and Wi-Fi round out the setup, making Morpheus a strong fit for corporate functions, wedding receptions and milestone celebrations. The boat is berthed at Cockatoo Island, so drinks and decorations can often be loaded on the way to your pick-up at no extra cost.

Pricing

From February to September, Morpheus is $1,000 per hour with a 3-hour minimum and a minimum of 30 guests. From October to January the rate is $1,300 per hour with a 4-hour minimum, and a minimum of 50 guests Thursday to Saturday or 30 guests Sunday to Wednesday. A one-hour transfer is $3,000. Public holidays attract a 20% surcharge, and Christmas Day is priced on request.

Wharf fees are $32 per wharf. On pay-as-you-go bar charters, bar staffing is charged at $300 for every 15 guests and covers up to 4 hours. 18th to 21st birthdays carry a $600 security fee for two licensed guards. BYO food and drinks aren't permitted. A $2,000 deposit confirms the booking, the balance is due 14 days before, and a $1,000 refundable bond applies.

Food

All food is prepared on board by a professional chef. The Chef's Special is $55 per person, a casual spread of bite-sized dishes such as satay chicken skewers, Cajun calamari, sushi and sashimi, samosas and bruschetta. The Spinnaker menu at $110 per person adds two canapes and a carvery-style main course of smoked leg ham, beef sirloin with bearnaise, lemongrass chicken and mushroom risotto, finished with desserts and coffee. The Port Jackson menu at $150 per person brings king prawns, rock oysters, mussels and smoked salmon to the table, and the Quayside menu at $180 per person includes lobster with tarragon butter and roasted lamb racks.

You can also build a custom menu of at least 10 items per person, at $5, $6 or $7 per item depending on the group. BYO food isn't permitted.

Beverages

The Standard Bar is $15 per person, per hour (3-hour minimum), with sauvignon blanc, cabernet merlot and sparkling, pale ale, light beer, soft drinks, juice and water. Upgrade the wines for $2 or $4 per person, per hour, add spirits for $7 per person, per hour, or spirits and liqueurs for $10.

For pay as you go, you can pre-pay a bar tab, settle a tally at the end of the cruise, or let guests buy their own drinks by cash or card, with bar staffing charged at $300 for every 15 guests. BYO drinks aren't permitted.

Wharfs & Availability

Morpheus is available daily. Charters are a minimum of 3 hours from February to September and 4 hours from October to January. Day charters can start any time before 5pm and evening charters from 5pm onward.

King Street Wharf in the CBD is the most popular pick-up, and Casino Wharf is also available. Homebush adds a half-hour of travel each way, and other harbour wharves can be arranged, subject to availability and extra fees. Morpheus can't pick up from Manly. Wharf fees are $32 per wharf.

The boat is berthed at Cockatoo Island, so pre-loading can happen on the way at no extra cost, for example at Balmain 30 minutes before a King Street Wharf pick-up. Longer pre-access can be arranged on request.
