About Shellbells Photography
Shellbells Photography is run by Michelle Harfoot, known to her couples as Shell. She is based on the Sunshine Coast, holds accreditation with the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers and has covered over 200 weddings across 17 years behind the camera. After many years of full-day weddings, Shell now works mostly with eloping couples, vow renewals and small weekday weddings that need shorter coverage. The smaller format lets her give each couple more personal attention, from the first coffee catch-up or phone chat through to the day itself. On the day she acts as a timekeeper as well as the photographer, keeping preparations, the ceremony, family groups and couple portraits moving so you reach the reception on schedule. She offers gentle prompts rather than stiff posing and recommends timing the ceremony two to two and a half hours before sunset so portraits fall in the golden hour. Reception coverage can be a short first 30 minutes – the table set-up, your entrance and a mock cake cutting – or run through speeches, the real cake cutting and the first dance. Wet weather is planned for, and she carries clear umbrellas. Each image is edited for exposure, colour and contrast in a classic style, then delivered by digital download three to eight weeks later. How much does Shellbells Photography charge?
Basic coverage for a mid-week elopement starts at $699. Extras and upgrades can be added, and full package details are sent once you get in touch with your plans.
Does Shell photograph elopements and vow renewals?
Yes. After 17 years of large weddings, she now concentrates on eloping couples, vow renewals and small weekday weddings that need fewer hours of coverage.
When will we receive our photos?
Your edited images are delivered by digital download, usually three to eight weeks after the wedding. Each one is adjusted for exposure, colour and contrast in a classic style.
What does reception coverage include?
The first 30 minutes covers reception details, the table set-up, your entrance and a mock cake cutting. Full coverage adds all guests, speeches, the real cake cutting and ends just after the first dance.
What happens if it rains on the day?
Shell suggests having a wet-weather plan alongside your sunny plan, and she brings clear umbrellas so couple and bridal party portraits can still go ahead.
