About Hainault @ Carmel

Hainault @ Carmel is a small winery, cellar door and restaurant on Carmel Road, in the Perth Hills. The Hainault name started at another property in the hills and moved to Carmel, bringing its wines, barrels and Harry the owl, who appears on every label. The cellar door pours a tasting of the whole range for a set fee per person, and that fee is taken off a bottle bought on the same day. Group tastings run by booking only, so larger parties are confirmed in advance rather than walking in. The list includes an estate-grown cabernet sauvignon and merlot blend aged in French oak, a rosé made from grenache, and a sweet fortified red for after a meal. Wine is also sold by the glass, with a short list of share plates at the cellar door. The on-site restaurant serves lunch on weekends and dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, so a tasting can roll into a longer meal. Live music runs on some Sunday afternoons, and the winery also takes bookings for weddings, birthday celebrations and anniversary gatherings, with packages quoted to suit.
