About Mandurah Boat Hire

Mandurah Boat Hire is a local, family-run fleet of self-drive boats based on Ormsby Terrace in Mandurah. Groups book a vessel of their own rather than seats on a tour, then explore the canals, the estuary and the Peel Inlet at their own pace. The fleet covers premium pontoons for six to 12 guests, standard pontoons for six to 12, bow riders for five or six, fishing boats, an eight-seat runabout and four-seat dinghies. Kayaks and stand-up paddle boards can be hired from the jetty too, and selected boats welcome dogs. No licence is needed for daytime hire. Every booking starts with a briefing from the crew, the boats stay within the sheltered estuary and marina, and the team watches the fleet on GPS with its own rescue boat on standby. For celebrations, the premium pontoons are the pick, with shade, a table, wheelchair access and space for a big esky. The business markets these hires for birthdays, hens days, family reunions and work Christmas break-ups, and larger parties can book more than one boat so everyone is out together. Groups bring their own food, drinks and speaker, and platters can be ordered from The Peninsula Bar and Restaurant next door with four hours' notice. The driver must stay sober, as there is zero tolerance for operating a boat while intoxicated.

Frequently asked questions

How many people fit on one boat?

The largest premium and standard pontoons carry up to 12 people, including children and infants over 12 months. For a bigger party the team can help book several boats so the whole group is on the water at the same time.

Can we bring our own food and alcohol?

Yes. Groups can bring eskies, grazing platters and soft or alcoholic drinks, plus a Bluetooth speaker. Whoever is driving must stay under the limit, as the business has zero tolerance for operating a boat while intoxicated.

Does anyone in the group need a boat licence?

Not for daytime hire. The driver gets a briefing from the crew and must be judged competent before leaving the jetty, and the boats are kept to the estuary, marina and inlet where speeds stay low.

Can we hire a boat in the evening for a celebration?

Yes. Twilight and early-evening hires are offered for milestone birthdays and end-of-year work parties, with a start time agreed with the team to suit the occasion.

Is there a toilet on the boats?

No, none of the boats has a toilet on board. The nearest public toilet is beside the Visitor Centre close to the jetty, so plan stops into a longer hire.

A great experience that was easy to book. We spent 1 1/2 hour cruising the canals and exploring the waterways and marina. We even took our pup. Definitely recommend.
