Water Sports in Inner South

Both Inner South water sports operators launch from the South Perth foreshore, so what separates them is the kind of time on the river you want. Funcats Watersports, on Coode Street in Sir James Mitchell Park, is about sailing and paddling under your own power. Ultimate Watersports South Perth, on Mill Point Road, runs jet skis, tubing and wakeboarding.

Two South Perth bases, two styles of day on the water:

• Funcats Watersports hires Hobie Wave catamarans by the boat, plus stand up paddle boards and single or double kayaks, from $27.50 per person.
• First-timers at Funcats get basic tuition, and a demonstration if needed, before the hire clock starts, with rescue boats keeping watch on the river.
• Ultimate Watersports South Perth books group tubing per person in 10, 20 or 30 minute runs behind a jet ski, for riders six and over, from $50 per person.
• Its 2.5-hour guided jet ski tour passes Matilda Bay, Elizabeth Quay, Optus Stadium and the Matagarup Bridge before a freestyle session.
• An hour of jet ski hire, or the tour, needs no skipper's ticket, though drivers must be 16 and photo ID is checked on arrival.
