Clear allCarmel has a winery and a cider maker a short way apart, and both expect groups to book ahead rather than turn up. Hainault @ Carmel pours its full wine range, while Carmel Cider Co works from a third-generation apple and pear orchard.
How the two Carmel cellar doors differ for a group:

Yes at both. Hainault @ Carmel takes group tastings by booking only, and Carmel Cider Co asks groups over 12 to arrange a time and books its tour in advance.
Share plates are served at the cellar door, and the restaurant opens for weekend lunches and for dinner on Friday and Saturday.
The maker walks booked groups through the production shed and explains each glass on the tasting paddle.
Its packing shed and pop-up bar are hired for functions of about 250 standing or 150 seated, with catering and furniture from outside suppliers.
