About Cheyne Horan School of Surf
Cheyne Horan School of Surf teaches people to surf on the Gold Coast, with lessons at Surfers Paradise and Burleigh Heads. Head instructor Cheyne Horan has spent more than 35 years coaching, and the program he has built focuses on getting the basics right. For workplaces, the headline offer is the team building clinic. It runs for two hours and covers ocean awareness, safety, paddling, standing up, catching waves, surf etiquette and advice on equipment. You need at least five people to book. The aim is simple: colleagues try something new side by side, away from the desk. Trying a tricky skill together gives people a shared challenge, and it helps with rapport, trust and communication. Everyday beginner lessons follow a similar approach. You stay in waist-deep water with easy waves and soft boards, taught by qualified instructors and surf life savers. The instructors pick the safest area on the day, and all gear comes with the lesson. Those with some experience can move on to intermediate lessons covering late take-offs, turns and duck diving. Private lessons of one to three hours are available too, with coaching built around your goals. Send an enquiry with your team size and preferred date.
