About POT Studios
POT Studios is a family-owned ceramics studio in Tugun, on the southern end of the Gold Coast. Its members and students work in an intimate, purpose-designed space, and it opens that room to private groups for special events. Group workshops take 6 to 25 people and run for two hours. Guests choose hand building, wheel throwing or a mix of the two. There are six wheels on site, so larger parties usually combine both techniques. Projects are flexible. People can hand build a mug, vase, planter, platter, salad bowl or fruit bowl, or shape their own pieces using the pinch pot method. Coiling a large pot as a team is another option, and it works well for families and staff groups. No skills are required, and a teacher leads the session from start to finish. Clay, glaze and firing are part of the workshop cost. Finished pieces take roughly 4 to 5 weeks to fire and glaze, and the studio makes contact when they can be collected. The studio names birthdays, baby showers, hen parties, Christmas events, corporate gatherings and team-building as natural fits. Food and drinks are BYO, and extra studio time can be hired around the workshop for a catered celebration. Send an enquiry with your numbers and preferred date for a group rate.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can join a private group workshop at POT Studios?
Group workshops suit 6 to 25 people. Parties of up to five can look at a private lesson instead, which runs for 1.5 to 2 hours.
Does anyone in the group need pottery experience?
No experience is needed. The workshops are designed for beginners, and a teacher guides the group through hand building or wheel throwing.
Can we bring food and drinks to the studio?
Yes, groups can bring their own drinks, grazing boards and nibbles. The studio can also recommend companies that make salads, sandwiches, cakes and boards.
When do we get our finished pottery back?
Firing and glazing take roughly 4 to 5 weeks, and the studio gets in touch when pieces are ready. Collection hours are 10am to 3pm on weekdays and 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.
Can everyone use a pottery wheel at a large booking?
The studio has six wheels, so groups of more than six usually combine wheel throwing with hand building. Tell the team what you would like to make and they can help design the workshop.
