About DIY Invasion

DIY Invasion is a family-run creative studio in Stapylton, on the northern Gold Coast. Its adult sessions centre on hosted art and craft, and the paint and sip is the simplest way in. Guests bring their own drinks and nibbles, settle at an easel and follow a host through a design over about three hours. The painting designs rotate, and no experience is needed. Materials and aprons are supplied, and each guest leaves with a finished 40x50cm canvas. Groups that fancy something else can look at resin serving boards, resin river boards, crystal lamps, macrame or dried flower arrangements. Resin pieces need time to cure before collection, so they do not go home on the day. Private sessions open up from eight guests, with the date and time chosen by the group. The studio names hens parties, birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, bucks celebrations and Christmas get-togethers among the occasions it hosts. Work teams can book too, and the team building sessions are tailored to anything from a small crew to a department of fifty. There is also a Splatter & Splash room, a UV-lit space for throwing paint at the walls, which suits younger guests and the young at heart alike. Kids' birthday parties run for around two hours with a host, in styles from craft stations to skateboard deck painting. Platters and snack boxes can be added to a booking, or you can bring your own food. Send an enquiry to talk through your group, your date and which session suits.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a paint and sip cost at DIY Invasion?

Paint and sip is priced at $60 a person and takes about three hours. That covers materials, an apron, your host's guidance and the 40x50cm canvas you take home.

Can we book a private session for our group?

Yes. Private sessions need at least eight guests, and your group picks the date and time. Send an enquiry with your numbers and the occasion so the team can plan it around you.

Can we bring alcohol and food?

Yes, drinks and nibbles are BYO, including alcohol, though guests drinking alcohol must be 18 or older and may be asked for ID. There is an onsite cafe when it is open, and platters can be added to party bookings.

Are children allowed at adult workshops?

At paint and sip sessions, children aged 7 and over can come along with an adult, except in sessions set aside for kids. Kids' birthday parties are a separate hosted product, aimed at ages 5 to 12.

What should we wear?

Wear clothes you would not mind getting paint or resin on, as aprons give only some protection and resin barely washes out. For the paint-throwing room, enclosed shoes or grippy socks are a must, and white shows up well under the UV light.
