About Sailing in Paradise
Sailing in Paradise is run by owners Steve and Jess Buckley from C Arm at Marina Mirage, Main Beach. They operate three Seawind sailing catamarans, each hired privately with a skipper and crew. Spirit of Gwonda is the original, an easygoing boat for parties and family days. Oceans is the more polished option for corporate groups and couples. Both carry 30 guests, and Island Time takes up to 42 across its shaded lounge, central table and front deck. A catamaran's wide, stable hulls suit a social crowd, and the Broadwater has none of the ocean swell, so seasickness is rare. A typical daytime trip of three hours includes a stop at Wave Break Island, with paddleboards, splash mats and beach games on hand. Groups who would rather keep moving can head along South Stradbroke Island and past the Sovereign Islands. Evening sails trade the swim for a sunset and the city lights. Food and drinks are flexible. Bring your own and the crew supply big eskies and ice, or order through the catering partner and ask about drinks packages. Each boat has a small marine barbecue, though a four-hour booking gives more time if you plan to cook. Music runs through built-in speakers from an iPad with Spotify Premium, and DJs can plug in. The crew also take photos and videos and send them on afterwards, which saves someone in the group from playing photographer. Birthdays, hens and bucks groups, team building days, Christmas functions and weddings are all regular work. Decorations are welcome within limits: banners and a tablecloth are fine, while confetti, party poppers and latex balloons are not.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can each catamaran take?
Island Time carries up to 42 guests, while Spirit of Gwonda and Oceans each carry up to 30. These are legal limits, and any DJ counts towards the total.
Where do charters leave from?
All three boats are berthed on C Arm at Marina Mirage, Main Beach. Parking nearby is limited, so a rideshare is the simpler way to arrive.
Is BYO food and drink allowed?
Yes. Large eskies with ice are supplied, and glass bottles are fine as long as your cups are non-breakable. Red wine is on the list of things to leave behind.
Can we hire a DJ for the boat?
Yes. DJs get a 240V outlet and an RCA connection to the boat's sound system, and they usually set up on the central table, which reduces the space for food.
What decorations are allowed on board?
Tablecloths, table decorations, a small sign, banners and one or two foil balloons are fine. Confetti, party poppers, sparklers, streamers and latex balloons must stay on shore.
