About Horizon Cat Cruises
Horizon Cat Cruises runs a single boat, a Seawind 1160 Deluxe catamaran, and every booking gets all of it. Up to 30 guests come aboard at Marina Mirage in Main Beach with Captain Kenny and his crew, and no strangers share the deck. It suits first-time charter groups, because the crew walk organisers through the planning. The boat is set up for a long, easy party. Covered booth seating with windows all round sits alongside a shaded lounge and open decks, and there are two private bathrooms. A Bluetooth sound system and karaoke handle the music, while the BBQ, fridge, freezer and large eskies look after lunch. Paddleboards and a lily pad come out at the swim stops. Hens and bucks groups are regular guests, along with birthdays, work Christmas parties, corporate events, family reunions and small weddings. Morning, lunch and evening departures all work, and each changes the feel of the day. A daytime charter usually beaches at Wave Break Island or anchors near South Stradbroke Island. A sunset departure puts the skyline at the centre of the evening. Charters start at three hours and can stretch to six, and four gives time for a couple of stops. BYO is the common choice, though catering partners can send platters, grazing boards or an onboard chef, and a drinks package is available. Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes, BYO is the usual arrangement. Fridges, a freezer, large eskies and a BBQ with utensils are on board, and bringing drinks already chilled makes the day easier.
Where do charters start and finish?
Every cruise boards and returns at Marina Mirage in Main Beach. The boat is ready about 15 minutes before your agreed departure time.
Can guests swim during the cruise?
Yes. The boat can pull up at sheltered beaches around Wave Break Island and South Stradbroke Island, where guests can swim, paddleboard or relax on the lily pad.
Is the boat suitable for children and older guests?
Yes, it is a stable catamaran with life jackets for all ages, shaded seating and two bathrooms. Protected water on the Broadwater makes it comfortable for mixed family groups.
