About VIP Decorating
VIP Decorating & Events is a styling studio in Smithfield, led by creative director Irene Prasad. The business has spent more than 20 years decorating Sydney celebrations and has styled over 600 weddings, with a focus on Hindu, Sikh, Punjabi, Tamil and Gujarati celebrations. The work is built around big visual pieces: ceremony mandaps, reception stages, entrance walkways, hanging florals and feature lighting, with furniture and props drawn from their own hire range. Wedding days are the core, but the same team styles the events around them and plenty that have nothing to do with a wedding. Engagement parties get stage setups and floral backdrops; sangeet nights get draping, LED lighting and dance floors; haldi and mehndi functions get marigold garlands, swings, low lounges and bolsters, and these can be set up in a home, a function hall, a garden or a marquee. For corporate clients they style product launches, conferences, awards nights, gala dinners and end-of-year parties with branded backdrops, media walls, signage, centrepieces and lighting. Flowers can be fresh or premium artificial, and lighting runs from uplighting and fairy lights to chandeliers. Each job starts with a one-on-one consultation at the studio (by appointment, Tuesday to Sunday) and often a visit to the venue to plan layout and flow. You can take a full styling package or just a single feature, and the team sets everything up on the day. They reply to enquiries on the same day and send a tailored proposal after the first meeting. Couples usually book nine to twelve months ahead, though shorter lead times can sometimes be fitted in.

What does a styling package include?
It depends on what you choose. It can be anything from one backdrop or mandap to complete styling with florals, stage, entrance decor, furniture, props and lighting. Consultations, venue visits and setup on the day are part of their full-service styling.
How far ahead should I book?
Couples usually lock in a date nine to twelve months out. Shorter timelines are sometimes possible depending on availability, so it is worth asking even if your event is sooner.
