Tumbleweed Events is an event styling studio in Kirrawee in the Sutherland Shire, set up in 2014 by owner and creative director Ruth Saunders. She studied art and design and worked in retail buying for David Jones and Topshop before moving into events. The studio handles weddings and corporate work, and also styles birthdays, themed parties and intimate dinners, working across metro and regional Sydney. The process starts with a consultation to go through your ideas, then a storyboard or mood board so the look is agreed before anything is booked. From there, the team sources props, suggests and assesses venues, and on the day sets up the decorations, furniture, lighting and floral arrangements. Tumbleweed has trained florists for event and table flowers. For corporate clients it does product launches, Christmas and end-of-year parties, awards nights and charity balls, and offers ready-made themes such as Rustic Boho, Classic, Luxe Modern, Winter Wonderland, Christmas, Hollywood Glamour, Starry Nights, Las Vegas and Disco in Pink. Much of what gets used comes from Tumbleweed's own hire collection: arches, backdrops including a gold shimmer wall, Chesterfield and velvet lounges, tables and stools, rugs, lanterns and votives, blackboard signage, champagne towers and kids' party pieces, many of them made by hand. Clients can style the event with their own décor instead, or dry-hire props from the studio if they'd rather do it themselves. Quotes are free, a 25% deposit secures the date, and the balance is due 10 days before the event. It suits companies after a themed party with minimal fuss, and hosts who want one team to handle styling, flowers and hire.
