About Sydney Prop Specialists

Sydney Prop Specialists started in the early 1980s dressing sets for bands and has grown into a theming business run from a large warehouse and showroom on Carrington Road in Marrickville. The company has around 20 full-time staff, including prop builders and designers, and a prop collection it describes as one of the biggest in Australia. It is part of the Sydney Props Group, alongside a table decor hire brand, a custom build and set construction business, photo studios and an AV company. The core service is themed event styling. Their stylists work from your brief and the venue to build a look, then deliver, install and pack it down. Signature themes include masquerade, Great Gatsby, Studio 54, Wild West, the Odyssey, Christmas and Halloween, with dozens more listed by era, country, film and sport. For 2026 they publish priced packages: Melbourne Cup and Spring Racing styling from $4,495 + GST, Halloween worlds such as a graveyard, haunted manor or dungeon from $5,000, and Gatsby, masquerade and Studio 54 packages built from a per-table price plus room styling and logistics. The work is usually larger scale: corporate Christmas parties, galas, awards nights, brand activations and shopping centre displays. Private parties can be themed too. The in-house florist adds centrepieces, arches and floral walls, and the custom build team makes one-off set pieces. If you only need a few props, individual items and small bundles can be hired separately, with delivery, install and collection included in Sydney metro. The showroom is open weekdays 8.30am to 5pm, with Saturdays by appointment.

Full Melbourne Cup and Spring Racing styling packages start from $4,495 + GST, with smaller race-day bundles from $1,250 + GST and individual feature pieces from $245 + GST. Halloween theme packages are $5,000 for the entry level and $10,000 for the expanded version. The Gatsby package is priced at $250 per table of 10 plus $4,450 room styling, the masquerade package at $215 per table plus $4,410 room styling, and the Studio 54 package at $285 per table plus $8,650 room styling, with delivery, installation and pack down quoted on top. Florals are priced by size, with centrepieces from about $100 and floral arches from $1,250.

Service Details

Every styling package is delivered, installed and packed down by the Sydney Props crew, and can be scaled to the venue, guest count and budget. Themed packages can be extended with AV, lighting, entertainment and special effects through the group's other brands. Custom sets, signage and one-off props are built in house at Marrickville. The event florist sources fresh flowers from the Sydney markets on the morning of the event and also works with silk, preserved and native stems. Individual props and small bundles are also available for hire, with delivery, installation and collection included in Sydney metro. The Marrickville showroom is open weekdays 8.30am to 5pm and Saturdays by appointment.
