Cocktails & Canapés was founded by head chef Jane Strode, who served her apprenticeship through Neil Perry's Rockpool and has since run kitchens across Sydney. The business is built around doing the food and the drinks together rather than bringing in a separate bar team, and it works across private parties, corporate functions, brand and product launches, gala dinners and weddings. Menus are written for each event. Chefs prepare canapes, three course menus and grazing platters using seasonal produce from local growers and artisan suppliers, and there is an existing range of sample menus if you would rather choose than design. On the drinks side, bartenders build classic or more adventurous cocktails and can create a custom drink for the occasion, with wine pairings to match. Professional catering and bar staff are supplied for the event itself. The team also runs event management and styling as separate services. That covers venue sourcing, furniture and decor, lighting and sound, guest lists, run sheets and goodie bags, so a client can book the catering alone or hand over the whole event. The company has built relationships with Sydney venues including the North Bondi Surf Club, the Cell Block Theatre, the Blue Room in Bondi and Fairground Follies at Bowral, and its past work includes fashion week after parties, a Penfolds Grange anniversary and car launches. Catering covers the City of Sydney, inner west, eastern suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Sutherland Shire and western Sydney. Numbers need to be roughly settled two weeks out, with final figures five days before the event, and the chefs will cater for dietary requirements given notice.
