About One Ocean

One Ocean is a catamaran licensed for up to 20 passengers, with seated dining for 12 and a relaxed pace suited to an afternoon on the harbour. Two large eskies keep food and drinks cold, there's an onboard BBQ for casual catering, and a powerful sound system sets the mood. A toilet is on board, and a floating water mat and stand-up paddleboard are included at no extra cost for swim stops. What sets One Ocean apart is the people running it. The owners are environmental advocates who have cut out single-use plastics in favour of reusable partyware, clean with biodegradable soaps, recycle every beverage container and keep the bathroom supplied with Who Gives a Crap toilet paper. Two per cent of all profits go to ocean clean-up projects. Food and drinks are BYO, with plates, cutlery and cups provided, or you can order a sausage sizzle BBQ and platters.

Pricing

One Ocean is $400 per hour, rising to $425 per hour in December, with a 3-hour minimum on every charter. Public holidays attract an extra $100 per hour. Wharf fees are $100 per charter ($50 per wharf), and a $125 surcharge applies to BYO food and/or drinks. Manly pick-up or drop-off is charged as an extra hour each way. An $800 deposit confirms the booking, the balance is due 10 days before, and a $500 refundable bond applies.

Food

You're free to BYO food, with plates and cutlery provided and a BBQ on board. If you'd like it organised, the sausage sizzle BBQ is $25 per person, with quality sausages and chicken skewers, grilled onions, tomatoes, bread rolls, potato salad, a rocket, pear and parmesan salad and party snacks. Platters are $10 per person each for a three-cheese board, an antipasto board or a seasonal fruit platter, and $15 per person for a sushi platter.

Beverages

Drinks and ice are BYO. Cups and filtered water are provided, and two large eskies keep everything cold. In keeping with the boat's no single-use plastic approach, partyware is reusable and all beverage containers are recycled.

Wharfs & Availability

One Ocean is available every day, subject to the calendar, and every charter is a minimum of 3 hours.

King Street Wharf in the CBD is the most popular pick-up. You can also board at Clontarf, Yarranabbe, Rose Bay, Old Cremorne Wharf, Mosman Bay, Watsons Bay, Lavender Bay, Yeend Street in Balmain, Towns Place Wharf or the Eastern Pontoon at Circular Quay. Manly pick-up and drop-off is available with an extra hour charged each way. All wharves are subject to availability, and others can be arranged by special request at extra cost. Wharves One Ocean can't use are Man O'War Steps, Campbells Cove, Kirribilli, Double Bay, Cremorne Wharf and anything beneath the Spit Bridge. Pre-loading isn't available. Wharf fees are $50 per wharf, or $100 per charter.
