Sydney Live Music Band, often shortened to SLMB, is a collective of musicians from across Sydney who have played together for years. Musical director Hayden Dalton, a multi-instrumentalist and trumpeter who has performed at the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Town Hall, has led the band since 2019. The line-up flexes to suit the event, from a small jazz trio through to an 11-piece party band with a full horn section. For weddings, the band covers the whole day. An acoustic duo or classical and jazz options suit the ceremony, a jazz quartet or easy-listening trio works for cocktails and canapés, and the reception is where the party band comes in. Wedding packages start at $1000 for an acoustic duo, $2500 for a four to five-piece party band and $4000 for a party band with horns of eight or more players. Corporate packages start at $2000 for a three to four-piece cocktail band, with the same party band and horn options above that. The band has played Christmas parties, executive dinners, charity fundraisers, company anniversaries and festivals. Standard quotes cover up to five hours including setup and pack-down, usually as four 45-minute sets or three 60-minute sets timed around speeches.
