About Mesa Music

Mesa Music is a Sydney band company built around Mesa Groove, a five-piece covers band, and a set of themed tribute shows. Mesa Groove plays a broad repertoire, taking in the best of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s through to current Top 40, and moves across rock and roll, pop, classic rock, disco, funk and soul. The band is always 100 per cent live, with no backing tracks, and updates its set regularly so it mixes familiar classics with current songs. The same musicians work in smaller formats. Mesa Groove Duo is fronted by vocalist Gabriela Von Castello with Tony Marinelli on guitar and bass, and the trio adds vocalist and drummer Jerry Vander, so you get both male and female vocals. For corporate work the line-up scales from three pieces up to seven. Alongside that sit the themed shows: Pop Muzik, an 80s band; Blue Eye Soul, covering David Bowie, Robert Palmer and Bryan Ferry; Made In Italy; and Night and Day, a crooners and Motown show. Themed parties are a speciality, including Greek, Italian and Jewish nights and compilation sets such as ABBA or 70s disco, with costumes worn on request. MC and DJ services can be added when they are needed. Mesa Music takes on weddings and engagement parties, New Year parties, coming-of-age celebrations including birthdays and bar mitzvahs, christenings and communions, and corporate work such as Christmas staff parties, anniversaries and launch parties. Every booking is quoted after a conversation about the event, and the tailored price is built on a minimum five-piece band.

Performance Details

Mesa Groove performs as a duo, a trio, a five-piece or up to seven pieces for corporate functions, and every set is played live with no backing tracks. The duo is vocalist Gabriela Von Castello with Tony Marinelli on guitar and bass, and the trio adds vocalist and drummer Jerry Vander for both male and female vocals. The themed shows, Pop Muzik for the 80s, Blue Eye Soul for David Bowie, Robert Palmer and Bryan Ferry, Made In Italy, and Night and Day for crooners and Motown, are booked as full productions. Costumes are worn on request for themed nights, and compilation sets such as ABBA or 70s disco can be built into the evening. MC and DJ services are available with the booking, and the band works through the running order with each client individually.
