Day outings run seven days a week from morning to early evening, with each trip taking three to four hours on the rock.

Choosing a Guided Adventure Day

Across the Hills, abseiling is offered by Out Bush Adventures, which is based in Darlington but runs its outings at Mountain Quarry in Boya. The choice for a group is less about which suburb and more about the time of day and how many drops to take.

What separates a Hills abseiling outing:

Base and site differ: the operator works out of Darlington, while the abseiling happens at the Boya quarry
Two walls, a 20 metre overhang for warming up and a 60 metre big wall
A daytime trip any day of the week, or a twilight trip that runs after dark
Two or three abseils across three to four hours on most outings
All rope gear supplied, with no experience needed

Out Bush Adventures lists both birthday parties and team-building
An after-dark trip ends with a celebratory drink at the base, which suits a birthday
Daytime sessions fit within 9am and 6pm, which suits a work group's day
The guide can tailor an outing for a group with a particular plan

Asking the Darlington guide the right questions

Confirm how pricing works for a group, since the listing starts from $175 per person
Ask how many guests one guide can take on the wall at once
Ask whether canoeing, climbing or 4WD could be added, as the team runs those too
Check the meeting point at the quarry for your session
