About Gold Coast BBQ Boat Hire
Gold Coast BBQ Boat Hire is run by locals Brent and Maryann from P Pier at Hope Harbour Marina. Its self-drive pontoon boats carry 8, 10 or 12 passengers, nobody needs a boat licence, and every hire starts with a full briefing on driving the boat and staying safe. Each boat is yours for a half or full day, depending on the boat, date and season. You supply the food, drinks and playlist, then cook on the gas BBQ as you cruise the northern waterways between Wave Break Island and Tipplers Island Resort. Two of the boats can swap the BBQ for a gas pizza oven, and paddle boards, fishing rods and snorkel sets are available as extras. Groups use the boats for birthdays, anniversaries, staff appreciation days, team outings and Christmas parties, and simple decorations are welcome if they are firmly attached. For younger guests, the kids' birthday option comes with a pirate or mermaid theme, plus cake, lolly bags and drinks waiting aboard. Do we need a boat licence to drive?
No licence is needed. The team gives you a full briefing on operating the boat, safety and the permitted cruising area before you leave the pier.
How many people fit on a boat?
The party boats carry 8, 10 or 12 passengers, and those limits include everyone on board. There are two 8-person boats, including a luxury version with lounge-style seating.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes, supply whatever food and drinks your group likes. Every boat has an esky and an onboard BBQ, and two boats can have a gas pizza oven instead, with gourmet pizzas available to order.
Where can we go on the boat?
You can cruise anywhere between Wave Break Island at the southern limit and Tipplers Island Resort at the northern limit. Tipplers has a café, a swimming enclosure and a playground.
Can we decorate the boat for a party?
Simple decorations are fine as long as they are tied down firmly and nothing can end up in the water. Bring your own playlist too, and connect it to the speaker on your chosen boat.
