About Sueño Rooftop
Sueño is a rooftop bar and restaurant on the Gold Coast Highway at Mermaid Beach, reached by a flight of red stairs. It sits under open sky with weathered umbrellas and a sea breeze, and the kitchen and bar both take their cues from Latin America. There are three ways to book it for an event. The first is exclusive hire of the whole roof, a standing format for up to 60 where guests move between the bar and the northern and southern terraces. The two terraces can also be hired on their own for 40 seated or 50 standing. They mix booths with high tables, which suits a cocktail-style party for a medium-sized group. Because they are open to the air, bookings depend on the weather. For something smaller, a long banquet table in the centre of the roof takes 14 diners. Everyone eats from a shared set menu, so it works well for a birthday dinner, a long lunch or a team meal. Event food is built for sharing, with roaming canapés, more substantial cocktail items and packages. Expect tacos, ceviche and other seafood, skewers off the grill and dishes that change with the season. The set menu includes guacamole and queso with tostadas, salmon ceviche, a fried bug roll and spiced sirloin with tortillas. Drinks lean towards margaritas and agave spirits, backed by house cocktails, wine and beers from nearby brewers.
