About Mermaid Beach Tavern
Mermaid Beach Tavern is a bar and bistro on the Gold Coast Highway at Mermaid Beach. Its function offer centres on the Garden Room, which can be booked in halves or as one space. The Garden Room North and the Garden Room South each hold 60 standing or 40 seated. Open them together as the Grand Garden Room and the capacity grows to 150 standing or 80 seated. All event spaces have access to TVs, with HDMI and USB connections for images or slideshows. Decorating is at the coordinator's discretion, with no hooks, screws, tape, glitter, tinsel or confetti. The functions menu is built from shared platters such as cheese, antipasti, chicken satay, seafood and sliders. Trays of 25 pieces cover hot and cold bites, including vegetarian choices, and you can bring your own cake. A consumption bar tab can include any mix of beer, wine or spirits, and guests on the tab receive wristbands. Other catering is not allowed, so all remaining food comes from the tavern. Events run for up to five hours and can be extended for a fee, finishing by midnight at the latest. Private music and entertainment need the coordinator's written approval beforehand.

A $200 non-refundable deposit secures a date. Birthday bookings over 50 people receive a cake, celebrations of 50 or more receive an arrival drink, and parties of 100 or more receive a balloon garland in the Garden Room.
Food
All food comes from the tavern, apart from a celebration cake. The kitchen supplies a cake knife, plates, napkins and cutlery.

What does a function room cost?
A single Garden Room has a $1,000 minimum spend and $150 room hire. The Grand Garden Room has a $2,000 minimum spend and $300 room hire. These can vary by season.
How long can an event run?
Events run for a maximum of five hours. Extra time costs $50 per hour in room hire and staffing, and nothing can run past midnight.
Can we bring a DJ or our own music?
The event spaces are not set up for private music or entertainment. Discuss any options with the coordinator, who must approve them in writing before the event.
Is there a deposit?
Yes. A $200 non-refundable deposit and card details secure the booking, final numbers and food choices are due 10 days before, and the bill is due three days before the event.
