About Southport Golf Club

Southport Golf Club sits on Slatyer Avenue among old gums and palms, with an 18-hole course around it. Founded in 1924, it is a members' club, though its restaurant, bar and hireable function areas are open to the public. The main room for most events is the Poinciana Room, on the upper level with air conditioning and an outlook over the 18th green. It takes 70 to 80 people standing, or 50 to 60 seated depending on the table layout. Doors lead straight onto the Terrace, an open-air space that works with the room or by itself. It has a screen you can connect to, plus audio for music and speeches. For bigger numbers, the full clubhouse holds about 220 guests seated or up to 500 standing, with a projector, several TV screens and sound throughout. Two smaller rooms, the Hartland and the Captains, suit meetings of eight and twelve. Food is prepared in-house, with options covering canapés, walk-and-fork dishes, breakfasts, platters and plated meals. Gluten-free and vegetarian choices appear across the menus, which change with the seasons. Companies often add a golf day, with packages that can include catering, branded gifts, competitions and a presentation after the round. Parking is complimentary.

My first visit here left me with an excellent impression. Very friendly and helpful staff in the pro shop and in the bar. Great to sit on the verandah with a glass after a round of golf with a view overlooking the course…
