About Sharks Events Centre
Sharks Events Centre is the function arm of the Southport Sharks club, on the corner of Olsen and Musgrave Avenues at Southport. It runs a set of rooms and an outdoor green from one site, with a dedicated planning team and in-house catering staff. The President's Room is the main space, a ballroom with high ceilings, a built-in stage, a bar and full-height windows over Fankhauser Reserve. It holds 650 for a banquet or 1,000 for cocktails, and splits into five areas for smaller groups. The Dempsey Room is built for occasions with some theatre, with a 7.5m ceiling, its own stage and a VIP level on a mezzanine. It takes 240 for a banquet or 350 for cocktails, and school formals are one of its regular uses. The Riewoldt Room has its own bar and windows facing the reserve, and suits up to 250. The Ashcroft Room breaks into three for groups of 20 to 50 each, or opens up to 220, while the Oval View Room is a brighter option for up to 300 standing. Weddings can use The Village Green, an open-air lawn with a gazebo. Inside, menus range from three-course plated meals to hot and cold tapas, shared platters and buffets, with a choice of drinks packages to suit the budget. Complimentary parking and free Wi-Fi are included, and Mantra at Sharks offers rooms a short walk from the function spaces. Virtual tours of the rooms are available on the venue's site.
