About Southport Surf Club
Southport Surf Club is on the beachfront at MacArthur Parade, Main Beach, and runs a public restaurant and bar alongside its surf life saving work. Functions are taken in two beachside spaces. Weddings, birthdays, cocktail parties, reunions and corporate events are all on the list. The Corporate Room has a private balcony facing the Pacific. It holds up to 50 for cocktails or 30 seated, and comes with audio-visual gear, sound and a private bar. The function pack lists this room as not wheelchair accessible. The Pavilion Hall is the larger option, a heritage beachside building with its own bar and toilets. It takes up to 100 for cocktails or 60 seated, with a dance floor and space for a platter and cake table. This room is wheelchair accessible, and a security guard is included. Each hire runs for up to 5 hours and finishes by 11pm. Linens, a staff member and a private bar are part of the booking, and you get an hour beforehand to decorate. Your own styling and decorations are welcome, within the club's rules. Food comes from the club kitchen as platters, from sandwiches and arancini to seafood and sliders, and all food and drink must be supplied by the club. Celebration cakes are the exception. The last platters go out at 8.30pm, and on Sundays guests order from the bistro menu instead. There are no drinks packages, so most hosts set up a bar tab at an amount they choose. External DJs, photo booths and other entertainment need approval from the functions manager first.

The room hire is paid as a deposit to secure the date, and full payment is due 21 days before the function. Platters run from $110 to $190 each.

The last platters are served at 8.30pm when the kitchen closes. Platters are not available on Sundays, when the bistro menu is suggested instead.

What are the function rooms and how many do they hold?
The Corporate Room takes 50 for cocktails or 30 seated and has a private balcony. The Pavilion Hall takes 100 for cocktails or 60 seated and has its own bar, toilets and dance floor.
How much does it cost to hire a room?
The Corporate Room is $400 to hire with a $1,500 food and beverage minimum spend. The Pavilion Hall is $1,000 to hire with a $3,000 minimum spend. A reduced $300 hire of the Corporate Room is offered Monday to Thursday, without linens or a bartender. A 50% surcharge on room hire and 20% on food applies on public holidays.
Can we hold a 21st here?
Yes, 21st birthdays are held here. Some functions, including 21st celebrations, need a $1,200 bond on top of the room hire.
Can we bring our own food, drinks or DJ?
Food and drinks must come from the club, apart from a celebration cake, which needs the functions manager's approval. An external DJ, photo booth or other entertainer can only be booked once the functions manager has approved it.
What time do functions finish?
Room hire is for 5 hours and finishes at 11pm whatever the start time. Alcohol service in the function rooms stops at 11pm, and in the Pavilion Hall it can only start after 4pm.
