Broadbeach Surf Life Saving Club has been looking after this stretch of sand since 1935, and it offers its function room for hire. The club sits at 27 Broadbeach Boulevard. The Ocean View Room is a large, breezy room with uninterrupted outlooks in two directions. You look east to the water and west across the parkland. Set up for a sit-down meal, the room fits 120 people with a dance floor still in place. For a cocktail party it takes up to 200. Food is flexible, and that is the main draw for many hosts. You can bring in a caterer of your choice or handle it yourself, because a commercial kitchen comes with the room. Alcohol is the one exception. Drinks are served from the club's own bar, so plan on that rather than bringing your own. The hire also covers a sound system, a drop-down screen and data projection, which helps with speeches and photo slideshows. The club names birthdays, weddings, engagements, school reunions and presentation nights among its events, along with workshops and conferences.
