The Doonan sits on two hectares of landscaped grounds on Beddington Road in Doonan, in the Noosa hinterland. Alongside its restaurant it runs indoor and outdoor bars, a wood-fired pizzeria, a cellar door and a large play area on the lawns. For private events the venue offers six distinct areas, each with its own character. For bigger groups there is The Abandoned Nursery, an undercover outdoor pavilion under a timber-beamed gable roof, hung with greenery and potted plants at the back of the property. The Nursery can be split in two. The eastern half takes 32 seated or 40 standing on round tables, the western half 42 seated or 70 standing on long tables, and the whole space seats 72 or holds 110 for cocktails. Up a flight of stairs under the red roof, The Loft is a fully air-conditioned room in whites and blues with timber furniture, TV screens, a private bar, a balcony and its own toilets. It suits cocktail events of up to 90. The Gallery, beside the main bar, is a smaller lounge with polished concrete, timber beams, a fireplace and air conditioning, seating 25 or holding 40 standing. Outdoors, the Poinciana Terrace, The Courtyard and The Greenhouse offer festoon-lit, plant-filled settings that are partly or fully undercover. The kitchen cooks a seasonal, Mediterranean-leaning menu using local produce and herbs grown in the venue's own garden, with pizzas from the wood-fired oven.
