About The Pottery Studio

The Pottery Studio is a bookings-only clay studio on Brookes Street in Nambour, welcoming complete beginners as well as practising potters. Alongside its regular classes and courses, it hosts private pottery parties where your whole group works on clay together. You can choose wheel throwing, handbuilding or a combination of both. Each private session runs for two hours, with teachers and support staff on hand from start to finish. Wheel groups suit eight to twelve people and handbuilding groups ten to eighteen, and the studio can stretch those numbers for a bigger party. Dates and times are fitted around the studio's own class timetable, so it helps to enquire with a few options in mind. Clay, tools and both kiln firings are included, and the studio glazes every piece in gloss white or clear gloss before it is ready to collect. Sessions are $150 a head on weekdays or $200 a head on weekends, plus a space hire fee of $250 for one area or $500 for both studio spaces. Send an enquiry to book a date for your group.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can come to a private pottery session?

Wheel throwing sessions take 8 to 12 people and handbuilding sessions 10 to 18. The studio says it can be flexible on the upper limit if your group is a little larger.

What does a private pottery party cost?

A two-hour session is $150 a head on weekdays and $200 a head on weekends. A space hire fee is added on top: $250 for half the studio, or $500 for both spaces when a bigger group splits between wheels and handbuilding.

What is included in the price?

All clay and tools, the teachers, use of the space, a first and second firing, and professional glazing of each piece in gloss white or clear gloss. The studio also looks after the work once your group has gone home.

When and how do we collect our pieces?

Finished work is collected during the studio's set pickup hours, from Wednesday to Saturday. Pieces are only held for two months, so plan to collect within that window or let the studio know in advance.

Do we need any pottery experience?

No. Teachers guide the group through every step, and the studio's beginner sessions are designed for people with little or no experience. It is a bookings-only studio with no walk-ins, so send an enquiry first.
