About Coastal Cruises Mooloolaba
Coastal Cruises Mooloolaba runs private function cruises from The Wharf Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast. Groups book the whole boat for two hours and cruise the Mooloolah River, the harbour and the canals, passing the trawler fleet, the waterfront homes of Minyama and the river mouth. There are three vessels to choose from. The Pacific Star suits 16 to 25 guests and The Rum Runner takes 26 to 45, both enclosed for all weather with booth seating, an open or outer deck, a toilet, Bluetooth music and a fully licensed bar. For couples and small groups of 2 to 8, the electric Duffy cruises quietly for 1.5 hours with a skipper, and guests bring their own food and drinks. On the two larger boats, functions are built around three per-person packages: a bar-only cruise, a cruise with a live DJ on board, or a full seafood spread featuring local prawns, calamari and fish. Grazing tables and an oysters, bugs and crab upgrade can be added. A skipper and host come with every function, and a functions manager helps with run sheets, dietary needs and invoicing for work groups. The team hosts birthdays, engagements, hens and bucks groups, work parties, corporate entertaining and end-of-year celebrations. Cakes and decorations are welcome, and you can play your own playlist through the sound system. The Rum Runner takes 26 to 45 guests and The Pacific Star suits 16 to 25. The electric Duffy is for groups of 2 to 8. Groups that fall between or beyond these numbers are considered case by case.
Where do the function cruises depart and where do they go?
Every cruise boards at The Wharf Mooloolaba on Parkyn Parade, with paid parking in the precinct. The route takes in the Mooloolah River, the harbour, the trawler fleet, the river mouth and the Minyama canals. Guests are asked to arrive 30 minutes before departure.
What catering packages are available?
Aboard either The Pacific Star or The Rum Runner you can choose a bar-only cruise, a package with a live DJ, or a full seafood spread with prawns, calamari, fish, cold meats and salads. Grazing tables and an oysters, bugs and crab upgrade can be added.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Only on the electric Duffy, which has no bar or catering, so groups of up to eight bring an esky and their own snacks. The two larger boats have a fully licensed bar and a catering menu instead.
What happens if the weather turns on the day?
The Pacific Star and The Rum Runner are enclosed all-weather vessels, so functions go ahead in rain. Each still has an open or outer deck for guests to step out and enjoy the river views when it is fine.
