About Perth Zoo
Perth Zoo sits on Labouchere Road in South Perth and is home to around 1,300 animals set among historic botanical gardens. Run by the Western Australian Government, it opens every day of the year and takes group bookings for kids parties, workplaces and larger gatherings. Birthday parties are split by age. The Puggle Party suits children under four, with a decorated room, story time and age-appropriate games. The Party Adventure, for ages 4 to 10, adds a private guided walking tour, party games and a coordinator who runs the two hours. The Zoo-It Yourself option hands families a pack with trail maps, activity sheets and a take-home gift so they can explore on their own, and every party ticket covers a full day at the zoo. For workplaces, the zoo runs team challenges such as the Zoomazing Race, where teams solve clues to reach checkpoints around the exhibits, and Zoovivor, a tribal contest with a conservation theme. Companies can also book reserved lawns for picnics and family days, with hampers, barbecue options and drink packages available. Groups of 30 or more pay reduced ticket rates. The Maali event space on site handles conferences and functions if a team activity needs a room attached.

Frequently asked questions
What ages do the Perth Zoo birthday parties cater for?
The Puggle Party is designed for children under four. The Party Adventure and the Zoo-It Yourself pack are for kids aged 4 to 10, and the zoo does not make exceptions to these age bands.
Can we bring our own food and a birthday cake?
Yes. All parties can be self-catered and you are welcome to bring a cake, but there is no fridge or freezer to store it. Puggle and Party Adventure bookings get a small wagon to carry food and gifts to the room.
Are balloons and decorations allowed?
Party rooms arrive already themed, and outside stylists are not permitted. Because of the animals, the zoo bans balloons, glitter, confetti, piñatas, whistles and other noisy party items across the whole site.
What team-building activities does Perth Zoo run?
The zoo offers corporate team challenges, including the Zoomazing Race, a clue hunt between checkpoints around the exhibits, and Zoovivor, a tribe-against-tribe contest with a conservation theme. They can be paired with a conference at The Maali.
Do parties go ahead in wet weather?
Parties go ahead rain or shine, so guests should check the forecast and dress for the weather. Arriving about 30 minutes early gives time to park and find the room, as late arrivals do not extend the booking.

I have seen animals that I have never seen in person from lions to penguins. The place was beautiful, gave a map to navigate and that’s about everything you need. Toilets were reasonably clean and the staff seemed friend…

First time visiting Perth Zoo. I appreciated that most of the animals had a place to go that wasn’t in sight of humans as I can imagine it can become quite overwhelming being watched all day. Although I must admit I thin…
