About The Event Mill
The Event Mill is a Perth event hire company that has been dressing up events for more than 15 years, working for brands, community groups and private clients. Its hire store holds everything needed to turn a bare site into a working space: café and bar tables, stools, lounges, ottomans, truss arches, linen, chair covers, glassware, crockery and catering equipment such as hot boxes. Structures are a big part of the work. The range covers open stall-style marquees through to fully enclosed builds that can be waterproofed and air-conditioned, in clear or classic white, plus breathable canvas stretch tents and draped luxury canopies with sheer cotton walls. Canopies are modular, so the team can shape them around a ceremony, a dining area, a lounge or a dance floor, and add lighting, flooring and draping to finish the space. Past jobs show the scale it handles: hospitality areas at Wanneroo Raceway, a riverside marquee and deck at Sir James Mitchell Park, a large custom marquee for a game-day activation, a Christmas Day community lunch in Wellington Square for more than 1,600 guests, and marquee installations at the Claremont Showground. Weddings are a regular part of the calendar too, often styled alongside the couple's planner. Canopy hire includes delivery, installation and pack-down. The crew checks the site before the day, sets up on grass, paving, concrete or decking, and can add sidewalls or extra anchoring when the forecast turns. Planners and venues can be looped in to sort out the finer points.

Frequently asked questions
How big a canopy do I need for 100 guests?
The Event Mill suggests roughly 100 to 120 square metres for a seated dinner and about 70 to 90 square metres for a cocktail-style event, and will advise on your layout.
What is the difference between a canopy and a marquee?
Canopies are lighter and more open, mainly giving shade and sun cover, while marquees are more enclosed and suit events that need full shelter from the weather.
Will I need council approval for a canopy?
It depends on the size of the structure and the site. Often no approval is needed, but the team will help you work through any permits that apply.
Can the structures go up on hard surfaces?
Yes. The crew installs on grass, paving, concrete or decking and checks the site ahead of the event so the structure is safe and secure.
What is included when you hire a canopy?
Delivery, set-up and pack-down are included, along with modular sizing and help with layout and weather planning. Lighting, flooring and draping can be added.
