About Capricorn Distilling Co
Capricorn Distilling Co makes rum and gin in a working warehouse at Burleigh Heads, with a bar and cellar door among the barrels. It suits a casual group tasting as well as a fully private event. The free distillery tour takes 30 to 45 minutes and is led by one of the head distillers. You follow the process through fermentation, distilling, barrel ageing and bottling, and you can put your questions to the people who make the spirits. Tours run from Tuesday to Friday at 12pm, with no minimum group size, though it pays to book ahead. Tastings across the range are also free. The team talks through botanicals and spices along the way, and the stills are part of the story. One is a traditional British-style copper pot called Burleigh, and the other is a bespoke rum still called Rocky. For a party or work function, you can hire the entire warehouse. That gives you indoor and outdoor areas, the fully stocked bar and dedicated staff to help plan the event. Packages for live music, food and drinks can be added. The enquiry form lists birthdays, corporate events and weddings, and the team aims to respond within 48 hours. Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended for the tour.
