About Balter Brewing Company
Balter brews its beer at Traders Way in Currumbin Waters, and its taproom sits right beside the tanks. Groups can get behind the scenes on a guided tour, sit down for a brewing workshop or take over a space for a function. The brewery tour runs for 90 minutes and covers the tanks, the canning line and the story of how a group of surfing mates started the business. Each guest gets a tinnie for the walk and a schooner in the taproom afterwards, and public tours run for up to 12 people. Beer School is the deeper option, with an in-house expert explaining how water, malt, hops and yeast become beer. It includes an express brewery tour and tastings of core and limited-release beers, and nobody needs any prior beer knowledge. Both experiences can be booked privately, which is how Balter pitches them to work crews, team days, hens parties and bucks parties. Send an enquiry with your group size and preferred date for a private quote. For a bigger celebration, the taproom also hosts birthdays and work parties. The Upper Mezzanine has its own bar for up to 80, the Beer Garden holds up to 200, and full venue hire on weekdays reaches 400.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a Balter brewery tour?
The guided brewery tour is $30 a person for 90 minutes, including a tinnie during the tour and a schooner in the taproom afterwards. Beer School is $50 a person, and private tour prices are quoted once you enquire with your group details.
Can our group book a private tour?
Yes. Private brewery tours and private Beer School sessions are offered to corporate groups, team days, hens and bucks parties and large groups of friends. Public tours are limited to 12 people, so larger groups should enquire about going private.
What happens at Beer School?
A resident beer expert runs through a short history and how beer is made, followed by an express guided tour of the brewery and tastings of core and limited-release beers. It lasts 90 minutes and no prior beer knowledge is needed.
What function spaces does the taproom have?
The Upper Mezzanine has a private bar and suits up to 80 guests on a minimum spend with no hire fee. The Beer Garden holds up to 200 and can be booked exclusively on weekends, and full venue hire for up to 400 runs on weekdays.
Is food available and can we bring the dog?
Food comes from regional food trucks at the taproom, and catering can be added to full venue hire for an extra cost. Pets cannot come inside because of the production licence and council rules, so leave four-legged guests at home.
