About The Coolangatta Hotel

The Coolangatta Hotel has stood on the corner of Warner Street and Marine Parade since 1910. It's a working pub with a bistro, beer garden and live music, and it also hires out its rooms for private functions with no room hire fee. The Balcony on the upper level is the main space, with 180 degree views over the beach through full-height glass. It takes cocktail parties of up to 500, and the functions pack lists 300 seated and a minimum booking of 100 guests. The Pool Room is the party option, fitted out with a private bar, pool tables, a dance floor, party lighting and lounges for up to 150 cocktail guests. The Sports Bar is more casual, giving up to 60 people a private area and bar close to the live music. For an outdoor feel, the undercover Beer Garden takes 40 seated or 60 standing. The Bistro Terrace has fixed shading for all-weather use and holds 45 for canapes and cocktails, while the Bistro itself seats 50 or takes 120 standing. Menus cover canapes, platters, two or three course set menus, buffets and a Mediterranean long table, and the kitchen can customise them. Corporate day delegate packages are available too. Bookings generally run for four hours, and bar times follow the pub's normal trading for that day. Send an enquiry to talk through your date, numbers and menu with the functions team.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a room hire fee?

No. The hotel doesn't charge room hire on any of its function areas, and the cost comes from your food and drink choices.

Which room suits a birthday party?

The Pool Room is set up for it, with pool tables, lounges, party lighting, a dance floor and a private bar. It takes up to 150 people cocktail style.

Can we bring our own DJ or band?

Your own music can run through the in-house audio system. Bands, soloists and DJs need management's approval first, and external speakers aren't allowed because of noise limits.

How long does a function run?

A general booking is four hours, though the Functions Manager can agree on a different length. Bars usually shut at the normal trading time for that day.

Can guests under 18 attend?

Yes, with a responsible parent or guardian, until 9pm. They must stay within the function space and leave the premises once they step out of it.
