About Surfers Paradise Beer Garden
Surfers Paradise Beer Garden sits on the corner of Cavill and Orchid Avenues, at the centre of the Surfers Paradise strip. It traces its roots to the hotel James Cavill opened here in 1925, and today it is a relaxed, sandy-themed pub built around open air, sport and shared food. Functions can take over one of four named areas. Birdwatchers is a balcony looking across Cavill Avenue towards the beach, set up for cocktail events of 50 to 100, with half or full hire. Palm Tree Alley is the grass-floored middle of the garden, with long bench tables, and it holds the same numbers for seated groups. The Seaside Deck is the smallest option, an outdoor perch for 30 to 50 people with beach views. The Urban Oasis is an indoor room with an outdoor feel for up to 120, and it comes with a private entrance and a dedicated bar. Add the Game Zone to that booking and your guests get Shufl boards, Connect Four and Foot-Pool to themselves. Larger groups can hire the entire venue, which holds up to 700 people standing and includes the games area. That option is quoted by the function manager to suit the event. Catering runs on platters, covering hot finger food, pizzas, tacos, sliders, seafood, cold meats and cheese, with vegan, fruit and sweet boards as well. Outside food and drinks are not allowed, though birthday, engagement and wedding cakes are welcome. Area hire runs for four hours, and a signed agreement plus a deposit locks in the date. How many guests can the venue hold for a function?
The whole venue takes up to 700 people standing. Individually, the Urban Oasis holds 120, Birdwatchers and Palm Tree Alley each hold 50 at half hire or 100 at full hire, and the Seaside Deck suits 30 to 50.
Can we have a space to ourselves?
The Urban Oasis can be booked exclusively and has its own entrance and bar. The other areas are described as semi-private, and you can also hire the entire venue for a large event.
Can we bring our own cake?
Yes, birthday, engagement and wedding cakes are allowed. Other outside food and all outside alcohol are not permitted, including desserts, lolly stations and donuts, but the team can try to organise those for you.
How long is a function booking?
Each named area is hired for four hours. Access for setting up and packing down is normally within the hour before and the hour after, and extra time is at management's discretion and may cost more.
How do deposits and final payments work?
A tentative booking needs confirming within seven days with signed terms and a deposit, which is credited to your function account. Final payment is due seven days before the event unless you arrange otherwise with the functions manager.
