About Greenmount Beach Surf Club

Greenmount Beach Surf Club is a bar and bistro on Marine Parade at Coolangatta, at the southern end of the Gold Coast. It serves lunch and dinner daily, and members, their guests and visitors are all welcome inside. There are two main places to hold a function. The Function Space and Balcony gives you the room to yourselves, with a private bar, its own toilets and a covered balcony strung with fairy lights. That room takes 80 people for cocktails or 60 seated. The Oceanview Deck is larger and sits within the working venue, so other diners stay around you. It can be split into a third for 60 standing, a half for 90, or used whole for 200. The kitchen handles all the catering. You can choose an alternate drop menu of two or three courses, a cocktail service brought around by staff for about an hour, platters that feed 10 to 15 people, or a long grazing table. Drinks run as a bar tab, which you settle when the function finishes. Both areas have a screen and audio for slideshows, and a DJ or small act can play in the function room with their own gear. Each function runs for up to five hours, in a daytime slot or from 5pm, and none are held on Sundays. A deposit and booking form confirm the date, and there is a minimum guest number to meet.

Pricing

The function room carries a charge of $300 from Monday to Thursday or $550 on Friday and Saturday, with a $1,000 minimum spend. On the deck, a third costs $300 or $500 with a $600 minimum spend, and a half costs $600 or $1,000 with a $1,600 minimum spend.

The whole deck costs $1,300 or $2,500, with a $2,500 minimum spend. Cocktail service is $50 or $65 per person, set menus are $55 for two courses or $65 for three, and public holiday events attract a 15% surcharge.

Food

Set menus are served alternately, with two options picked for each course, and cover dishes such as sirloin, barramundi and mushroom risotto. Cocktail packages combine standard and premium items from sliders and skewers to fresh prawns, with a minimum of 30 guests for both styles.

Platters feed about 10 to 15 people each and range from $50 salads to $250 seafood, and a grazing table for up to 50 is $650. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan dishes are marked, though fried items may contact gluten. Your own cake can be served for $2.50 per person.

Beverages

Drinks are arranged as a bar tab and settled at the end of your function. The function room has a private bar, while deck functions use the main venue bar. Bar purchases do not count toward the minimum spend on the deck.

Availability

Functions run Monday to Saturday in an 11am to 4pm slot or from 5pm, for up to five hours. Send an enquiry to book; a deposit and booking form confirm the date, and full payment is due seven days before.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests can Greenmount Beach Surf Club hold?

The Function Space and Balcony takes 80 for cocktails or 60 seated. The Oceanview Deck holds 60, 90 or 200 standing, depending on whether you book a third, a half or all of it.

Is there a minimum spend or minimum guest number?

Minimum spends run from $600 for a third of the deck to $2,500 for the whole deck, and the function room is $1,000. The function pack asks for at least 35 guests, so send an enquiry if your group is close to that.

Do you host 18th and 21st birthdays?

The club does not hold 18th birthdays. A 21st is fine, but a security guard is required for it, and the same applies to any function over 100 guests.

Can we have music or a DJ?

The function room can have a DJ, solo act or duo, who bring their own equipment and speakers. Amplified sound cannot be set up on outdoor areas, so live music for a deck function sets up inside the main venue.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes, there is a ramp to the front entrance and a lift to the first floor. Guests should also bring photo ID, as Queensland clubs ask to see it at the door.

Cannot complain about anything. Good selection of beers on tap. Prawn pasta and chicken parmigiana were excellent. They had a local covers band playing on Sunday afternoon.
