About Braeside Estate
Braeside Estate sits on Gooding Drive in Merrimac, on two acres of historic gardens along Gin House Creek. It started out as a workers' cottage in 1897 and has been restored into a design-led venue for weddings and events. The Pavilion is the main reception room, with space for up to 120 guests. It has a rendered bar, crystal chandeliers and a sandstone wall, and the layout can be restyled from formal to relaxed. Ceremonies can take place in the Chapel or at The Circle, an open-air spot surrounded by greenery. The Homestead, the original cottage, gives a wedding party somewhere bright to get ready. Two bars handle the time between formalities. The Lawn Bar sits under a large Camphor Laurel with lawn games and wine barrels, and it can be set up with a cocktail cart or champagne and canapés. The Shed Bar has a stone floor, velvet furniture and a wood-fired pizza oven, and the team can dress it as a gin lounge or a whiskey room. It works well for smaller groups and for elopements. Beyond weddings, the estate takes work functions, brand launches, presentation nights, engagement parties and milestone birthdays. An event might be casual outdoor pizzas or a formal dinner in black tie, with the layout worked out around your numbers.
