About Otherworld HQ
Otherworld HQ is a locally run games venue on Surfers Paradise Boulevard, built around playing with your whole body instead of a screen. Three separate attractions share the building, so a group can pick the one that suits its nerve. Saboteurs takes the idea behind the video game Among Us and turns it into a laser game in real life. Players wear a vest and wrist wearable, complete tasks around the arena and vote on who the imposter is before the crew is wiped out. The Cursed Passage is the scary one. Teams of two to eight get 10 minutes in each of five horror rooms, solving what they can while live actors try to rattle them. The Forgotten Arcade is gentler: a 60-minute escape room with a retro arcade theme for two to six players. Birthday groups can book the Universe package, which pairs an hour of game time with 45 minutes in the party room. It suits kids' birthdays as well as grown-up ones, with a minimum of 10 players and room for up to 30. For work groups, the Galaxy and Milky Way packages run Saboteurs across several rounds for teams of 10 to 35. Longer games are the suggestion for bigger teams, and the two arenas take up to 15 players each. The venue can be dark, with smoke machines throughout and strobes in the horror rooms. It is not wheelchair accessible, so raise any access or sensory questions when you send an enquiry.

Frequently asked questions
What does a party at Otherworld HQ include?
The Universe package runs for two hours in total: 60 minutes of game time plus 45 minutes of party room hire. It costs $60 per person, with at least 10 players required and space for up to 30.
How old do players need to be?
Saboteurs is recommended from age 8, The Cursed Passage from age 12, and The Forgotten Arcade suits all ages. Anyone under 15 in The Cursed Passage needs an adult playing with them.
Will our group have a game to ourselves?
The Cursed Passage and The Forgotten Arcade are always private. Saboteurs needs at least five players and any empty spots may be filled by other groups, so a bigger booking gives you more of the arena.
What should we wear?
Closed shoes are recommended for everyone, along with a shirt and footwear as a minimum. In Saboteurs the vest and wrist wearable go over your normal clothes, so there is nothing to change into.
Where do we park?
There is no parking at the venue itself. The Bruce Bishop Carpark on Beach Road is the closest option, and the entrance sits between the Ice Bar and a souvenir shop, right beside the Cavill tram stop.

We didn't have to wait long at the venue, after we just strolled in from the street. Beau and Ben were fantastic to deal with. First ever try at this and we did it half the allocated time.
